1. Introduction
This privacy policy explains how our Spotify Tracker application collects, uses, and protects your personal data. By logging into this platform using your Spotify account, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
This application is currently in a private beta, and we are committed to keeping your music data safe, secure, and private.
2. What Data We Collect
When you authorize our application via Spotify, we request specific permissions (scopes) to read and manage your data. We collect and store the following information in our secure database:
- Basic Profile Information: Your Spotify User ID, Display Name, and Profile Picture.
- Listening History: The tracks you play, the artists, and the exact timestamps and duration of your playback. This allows us to generate your long-term stats.
- Localization Data: We detect and temporarily store your local timezone to ensure your listening stats, daily resets, and achievements are perfectly synced to your real-world clock.
- Live Playback State: What you are currently listening to, used exclusively to power the live widget on your dashboard.
Note on the "Spotify Wrapped JSON" Feature:
If you use our tool to visualize your extended Spotify Wrapped JSON data, that file is never uploaded to or saved on our servers. The file is processed entirely within your browser's active session and is instantly forgotten the moment you log out or close your browser.
3. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used strictly to provide the features of this application to you. We use it to:
- Generate personalized statistics, charts, and leaderboards.
- Allow you to utilize our advanced Playlist Manager to sort, backup, and modify your playlists.
- Provide live widgets for you to share your current playback status.
- Remote Device Control: If you use the "My Devices" feature, we use your playback modification permissions to allow you to play, pause, change volume, or transfer music across your network. We never alter your playback automatically; it only happens when you initiate an action on the dashboard.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties or advertisers.
4. Cookies & Tracking
We use essential session cookies to keep you logged in to the dashboard securely. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics pixels, or advertising trackers.
5. Data Retention & Your Rights
Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to access, modify, or permanently delete the personal data we hold about you.
- Disconnecting from Spotify: You can revoke our application's access to your Spotify account at any time by visiting your Spotify Account Settings and clicking "Remove Access" next to our app's name.
- Account Deletion: If you would like your profile and all associated listening history completely purged from our database, please contact the server administrator.
